Kensington Character Triumph

Honouring the character of their gorgeous Kensington home, Andrew and Angela’s 1930’s Californian Bungalow has been seamlessly transformed, to exemplify heritage charm.

From its arts and crafts inspired led light windows, to the subtle panelled detail above the window frames, the original two bed, one bathroom brick and tile home, no longer fulfilled their need for space.

Andrew and Angela came to Summit Home Improvements, with the brief to transform their small cottage, into a modern, spacious residence, tailored to complement three generations living under the same roof. With an eye to create a beautiful home for their growing family and accommodate Andrew’s mother, who had recently relocated from her acreage property, the family sort the specialist design and building experience of Summit Home Improvements.

In speaking with Summit Home Improvements, their personal designer Charlie Haddad, gained an in-depth understanding of how Andrew and Angela wanted to use their home and how to accommodate the needs of each family member.

“Charlie was fantastic throughout the whole process” said Andrew and Angela.

Through meticulous attention to detail, Summit Home Improvements were able to realise the potential of their home by adding a stunning ground floor and second storey extension.

On the ground floor the light and space of the original home was enhanced by opening up the dining and family room and creating a new entertainer’s alfresco, perfect for hosting friends and family throughout the year.

Flowing onto an exclusive, purpose built bedroom with views and access to the garden and generous ensuite, cleverly designed to fulfil Andrew’s mother’s needs and desires. The room now adored with personal pictures, is her private “homely” haven, making the transition into the family home effortless.

Finished with a cleverly placed laundry and larder, every inch of the ground floor extension has been sculpted with everyday life in mind.

Upstairs, a luxurious parent’s retreat has been seamlessly added to feature a tranquil bedroom, generous walk-in-robe, private study and sumptuous bathroom with contemporary his and her sinks.

From the street, the home’s elevation is a seamless blend of the original character of the home and new addition, faithfully recreating the existing architectural features to create a striking, richly designed residence.

When asked how they feel about their new home, Andrew and Angela say it best “We love it! It’s everything we wanted and more”.
